HELPS HAITI
Tuesday’s disaster changed Haiti forever. A 7.0 earthquake + multiple aftershocks have affected millions of people who live on Haiti.
The death toll is catastrophic.
The next 48 hours in response is critical.
For every 5 non-perishable food items you bring to the restaurant this weekend we will offer you a free portion of pomme frites.
We will send all the food we collect this weekend (jan 15-17) to Haiti through the Red Cross on Monday.
If you cannot come in this weekend please consider donating in other ways:
Text Haiti to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross
For every pair of tom’s shoes you buy, tom will send $5 directly to Partners in Health
Text 501501 to yele to donate $5 to the yele Haiti earthquake fund

This is a wonderful way to help the Haitian people. Thanks for doing this and providing inspiration.
Great that you’re helping out, but I’m surprised that the Red Cross is accepting donations-in-kind (food) since it’s usually not what’s requested by aid organizations. They have to spend money to sort it, transport it, distribute it, and then most people in a disaster zone don’t have water, let along cooking supplies. I hope this has been well vetted with the Red Cross. Usually aid organizations want cash donations so they can buy food, water, etc., from nearby sources so they can focus on quick distribution at low cost. It also helps them ensure that what’s being distributed is appropriate for the area. Good luck with your drive. Hope you get a good response.
